A Week of Discoveries and Creativity.

What a busy and creative week we have had!

We have continued our journey through The Wild Robot, learning more about the island where Roz has crashed. We have been thinking carefully about the different facts Roz needs to collect and remember in order to understand her new surroundings. This has linked beautifully with our own learning about facts, information and recording what we discover.

This theme has continued in Geography, where we have been exploring North and South America. We have been finding out about different countries and creating our own fact files, focusing on one country from each continent. We have enjoyed becoming geography detectives, researching interesting information and presenting our discoveries.

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of numbers up to 10,000. We have been working with number lines, ordering numbers and thinking carefully about the position and value of different numbers. There has been lots of great mathematical discussion as we have explained how we know where numbers belong.

In History, we have travelled back in time to learn about the Anglo-Saxons. We have been investigating why the Anglo-Saxons came to Britain to invade and what changed in everyday life once they settled here. We have enjoyed thinking about what Britain may have looked like and how life would have been different during this fascinating period of history.

One of the highlights of our week has been seeing the creativity, patience and perseverance shown by the class during our wall-hanging weaving project. We have carefully begun designing and creating our own woven pieces, taking our time to learn new techniques and solve problems when things don't quite go to plan! We have been particularly impressed by the care and determination everyone has shown.

We are hoping to finish our beautiful wall hangings next week, so watch this space for the finished creations!
