Reception - Robin

Our Reception Class is taught by Miss Martlew, supported by our amazing Teaching Assistants, Mrs Ellis and Mrs Griffiths.

Robin Class is a wonderful place to begin school life. We are very fortunate to have our own stand-alone pavilion and dedicated outdoor learning space, giving our children plenty of opportunities to learn, explore and play both inside and outside.

Reception is a very special and important year, when children develop the foundations for their future learning and school life. We encourage every child to be curious, confident and willing to have a go. We celebrate their individual interests, ideas and achievements, using these to inspire and extend their learning.

We believe children learn best when they are active, engaged and having fun. Our learning is hands-on and practical, with lots of opportunities to explore the world around us, get outside, investigate, create, move, play and learn through first-hand experiences. We make the most of our wonderful outdoor space and encourage children to develop their independence, resilience and confidence as they learn.

As part of our school community, relationships between children of different ages are really important to us. Soon after the start of the school year, each Robin is paired with a Year 6 Buddy. Their Buddy becomes a friendly and familiar face around school, helping them to settle in, find their way around and feel part of our wider school family.

We want every child in Robin Class to feel happy, valued, confident and excited to learn, building strong foundations for the years ahead.
