This week, the children have been very busy with their learning! They have been working super hard as they continue to get used to the routines and expectations of year 3. It has been lovely to see them growing in confidence and beginning to take on the challenges of KS2.
We have started our music lessons with Mr Chalk, which has been very exciting! The children have begun by learning about drumming, exploring rhythm and practising keeping a steady beat. They have really enjoyed getting involved and we are looking forward to developing our musical skills over the coming year.
In maths, we have continued working hard on place value, with a particular focus on using number lines. The children have been practising finding and estimating where numbers belong on a number line and thinking carefully about the value and position of different numbers. They have shown great perseverance when tackling some tricky challenges!
In English, we read The Stone Age Boy. The children have enjoyed following the characters on their Stone Age adventure and have thought carefully about the events and characters in the story. We will be using the book to inspire our writing as we begin working towards writing our own diary entries.
We have also started our new DT topic, Cook Well, Eatwell! The children have been learning about food and nutrition and thinking about what makes a healthy and balanced diet. We have been learning about how to stay safe when using kitchen tools and appliances, ready for the exciting part — cooking! The children are already very excited to get into the kitchen and have a go at cooking next week!
It has been wonderful to see how hard everyone has been working this week. Well done, Year 3! We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning!
