Getting Creative with Clay!

This week, Woodpecker’s have had lots of fun getting creative with clay as we prepare to make our very own Bell Beaker pottery!

We started by heading outside to explore our school grounds and hunt for natural resources that we could use to make interesting marks and patterns in the clay. The children collected a variety of natural materials, including twigs, leaves and berries, and enjoyed experimenting with the different textures and shapes they could find.

Back in the classroom, the children put their resources to the test, pressing and imprinting them into the clay to create a range of exciting patterns. They loved discovering how different materials left different marks and experimenting with their own designs.

It was wonderful to see the children using their creativity, sharing ideas and exploring how natural materials can be used to decorate pottery. These experiments will help us when we move on to creating our own Bell Beaker-inspired designs, linking our practical work to our learning about life during the Bronze Age.

Well done, Year 3, for such fantastic creativity and enthusiasm! We can't wait to see your finished Bell Beaker pottery!
