Interesting Invertebrates!

Hedgehogs have had another great week of learning! On Tuesday, Year Two absolutely loved starting their new Science topic, “Animal Survival”, and they are even more excited knowing they have a trip coming up linked to this learning! In the lesson, we focused on the six invertebrate groups: worms, molluscs, crustaceans, insects, arachnids and myriapods. The children explored whether invertebrates have hard or soft bodies, and looked closely at features such as the number of legs, antennae, wings and body segments. Hedgehogs then enjoyed sorting the invertebrates and they all showed great understanding by classifying different minibeasts. There was some fantastic scientific talk throughout the lesson, with children using new vocabulary confidently and explaining their ideas clearly. A brilliant week in Science. Well done, Hedgehogs!
