Hedgehogs have had a fantastic first week back after half term and have returned to school with such positive attitudes and a real enthusiasm for learning. In Maths, Year Two have been working super hard on multiplication, building their confidence with grouping and repeated addition. In English, they have explored poetry, thinking carefully about rhythm and expression, and in Science they have begun learning about plants, identifying different parts and understanding what plants need to grow.
However, the clear highlight of the week was Music! Hedgehogs explored how music can link to feelings and body movement, discussing how different tempos and sounds can make us feel calm, excited, thoughtful or energetic. Year Two then created their own musical doodle boards. They listened carefully to different clips of music and responded by doodling in ways that matched the tempo and mood. Fast music got Hedgehogs VERY excited and inspired bold, energetic marks, while slower pieces led to softer, flowing designs. It was a very fun, expressive session and the classroom was filled with creativity and imagination. Hedgehog Class showed wonderful listening skills. What a brilliant start to the new half term — well done, Hedgehogs!
