Week 4 - Amazing me in Robin Class

What another wonderful week we have had in Robin Class! The children have continued to explore our ‘Amazing Me’ topic and have been busy finding out more about ourselves, how we grow and change, and how we use our senses to explore the world around us.

Growing and Changing

This week, we had lots of fun looking at our baby photographs and making our very own ‘Guess Who?’ cards. We then talked about how we change as we grow and worked together to order pictures of a baby, toddler, child, teenager and adult.

Our Sense of Touch

We have also continued our learning about our five senses, focusing this week on our sense of touch. We explored a selection of objects hidden inside a feely bag and used our words of the week to describe what we could feel. After reading Lucy’s Picture, where Lucy creates a special textured picture for her blind grandpa to explore through touch, we were inspired to create our own textured pictures

The children enjoyed using words such as smooth, rough, soft, bumpy and fluffy to describe different textures. It was wonderful to see them becoming more confident in using new vocabulary to explain their ideas.

Our First Forest School Session

This week was also very exciting as the Robins enjoyed their very first Forest School session! We loved getting outside and exploring the natural world around us. The children used leaves to create prints and textured rubbings. It was a wonderful opportunity to combine our learning about touch and texture with our love of outdoor learning.

Well done, Robins, for another fantastic week of learning!
