Creative Shape Poems!

Hedgehogs have been working really hard in English this week. They have continued to work on poetry, and in particular shape poems. Last week, Year Two explored different shape poems linked to the coastline. Then, on Tuesday, Hedgehogs chose a sea creature and came up with their own poetic phrases to describe it. There were phrases like smooth, grey skin gliding through the ocean and stinging, wiggly tentacles waving around! Year Two thought carefully about vocabulary and how to make their writing interesting and imaginative. On Wednesday, they then brought their ideas together by carefully writing their poems into the shape of their chosen sea creature. Hedgehogs showed great focus and care when following the outlines, making sure their writing fit perfectly. The finished poems turned out amazing and Miss Hall, Mrs D’Aoust and Miss Moores were so proud of the effort and creativity shown by everyone. Well done, Hedgehogs!
