Year 1 - Squirrel
Welcome to Squirrel Class!
In year 1 the children continue to learn through play, exploration and discovery. Alongside this, they are gradually introduced to more structured learning, with adult led activities focusing on maths, English and science lessons. We continue to have daily phonics and play lots of games to weave their learning into everything we do.
We promote independence, good manners, kindness and a love for learning. We encourage the children to use their imagination and creativity to express and share their ideas with others. Our ‘Be Proud’ display wall always shows this off nicely.
Our topics for the year include Superheroes, The Enchanted Woodland, Dinosaur Planet, Moon Zoom, Bright Lights, Big City and Rio da Vida.
Throughout the year we try to do as much outdoor learning as we can. We plan to go and visit a Nature Park, a Planetarium and hold our very own carnival!

Likes: the colour purple, chocolate, ginger cats, Siberian tigers (or any big cat) and singing!
Dislikes: olives, sardines and mushrooms (eurgh).
