School Newsletter

No. 12 - 29th March 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

What I love about my job is that no two days are the same! At the same time as school was filled with the amazing smell of Year Three’s pizzas cooking in the kitchen my ears were full of the sound of Year Six carrying out chest compressions and applying first aid in the hall as they completed their mini-medics course.

At Plaistow and Kirdford, we take pride in delivering a rich, exciting and meaningful curriculum. We’ve spent considerable time this year reflecting and looking at the learning that goes on in all subjects and in the summer term will be launching new themed topics - be on the lookout for an updated parent’s guide coming soon!

We hope to see lots of you at our Easter Egg Roll next week. The routine will be the same as previous years: parents will be able to take children home with them once the egg roll has been completed.

PAKSA needs you! We are always on the look out for people who can dig in and get involved with our terrific parent teacher association. PAKSA help keep our school unique and improving.

Easter Egg Roll 2019

Our Annual Easter Egg Roll will be on the last day of term. As with previous years, we are inviting parents to come along to watch the finals during the afternoon. We hope you all have a lovely egg decorating time this weekend and can’t wait to see all the eggs in school on Monday ready for the ‘rolling’ to begin!

E-Safety

Did you know school is a mobile free zone?

If you volunteer at school - thank you, you are amazing! We do ask though that mobile phones are kept out of site at all times during your visit or on a school trip/forest school.

No photos should ever be taken on a personal device or shared via social media. We secure permission from all families for the taking and publishing of photos, however this permission does not extend to volunteers.

Many thanks in helping us maintain our child safeguarding procedures.

School Clubs

With the exception of Breakfast Club, Badgers After School Club, Gymnastics, Super Medics and B&H Football, all other school clubs have now finished for the term.

We would be very grateful if you could let the school office know if your child will be travelling home on the school bus instead. Badgers After School Club is available - although places do get filled quickly!

We hope you child has enjoyed the variety of clubs we have been able to offer this term. Look out for the new club timetable for the Summer Term which will be sent home before the end of term. Bookings will open after the Easter Holidays for next terms clubs.

PAKSA Dates for your Diary!

Friday 5th April – Second-hand Book Sale and Tuck Shop after the Easter Egg Roll. A great opportunity to stock up on books for the holidays!

Friday 5th April – Easter Egg Hunt starts. A great family Easter holiday activity! The treasure hunt is around Plaistow Green and will run from Friday 5 April to Tuesday 23rd April. Treasure sheets can be purchased from Monday 1 April from the School Office or Plaistow Stores for £1 each. Give the completed treasure sheet into Plaistow Stores to get your Easter egg!

Save the Date – Mid Summer Night’s Mini-Fest – Friday 21st June, 6pm to late

Do you enjoy singing?

The Plaistow Community Pop-Up Choir is being formed for a one-off concert to raise money for PAKSA. Have fun and meet new people! No need to be able to sing or read music. The Choir is open to the whole community.

Rehearsals will be held at school from 7.30-9pm on Thursday 24 April, 1 May, 8 May and 15 May. The concert will be on Sunday 19 May 3-4pm. Click on the link above to find out more.
